Tasting Notes:
Aromatic red fruit, flowers and cedar. Light red cherry color. Raspberry, strawberry, currant and cherry flavor. Lingering finish.
The Grape:
Grenache aka grenache noir makes world class wines when production is kept low by growing on rocky hillsides. You will find this grape in California Grenache varietals and wines from Chateaneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas.
The Vineyard:
This wine comes from the rugged and wild 2 acre terraced Conley Vineyard. This vineyard is at the top of the hill above the Frick tasting room. Conley vineyard was exactly carved out of a dry cliff. in this sunny, rocky location the vines work hard to produce a naturally small amount of wonderful flavored grapes. Frick grenache enjoys a special and unique winegrowing location.
The Wine:
Sophisticated and balanced fruit of cherry and raspberry and black currant. Classic 100% Grenache. Aged 22 months in neutral oak barrels and bottled unfined. Delicious soft fruit character.
