Tasting Notes:
Premier of a new Rhone blend. Dark plum and cherry fruit, fig and earth. Round full body that ends with lingering drying tannins. Blend of Syrah, Cinsaut & Counoise.
The Grape:
Syrah, cinsaut & counoise varieties, all grown in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County.
The Vineyards:
Dry Creek Valley hillside and benchland vineyards.
Syrah from Frick Estate Owl Hill Vineyard; Syrah was planted here in 1988. This tiny vineyard’s ground is rock, gravel and clay from decomposed Dry Creek Conglomerate soil. Very low yield of only 1.5 tons/ acre.
Cinsaut A benchland vineyard of 51 year old head pruned vines growing in red clay dirt without irrigation.
Counoise grows in the highest and driest block of Frick Estate Owl Hill Vineyard.
The Wine:
The premier of this new red Rhone style blend that was crafted to show the complex union of 3 complimentary grape varieties. Has a delicious complexity of fruit, spice and earth.
Syrah 50%, Cinsaut 25%, Counoise 25%
Named in honor of Lucia, Bill Frick’s faithful, late, winery dog.
