2007 Viognier, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley, Estate
Bottled, Gannon Vineyard Tasting Notes: The Grape: Viognier is delicate and weak growing, thus usually meager crops. Small clustered with small golden skinned berries, with origins in the Rhone Valley’s Condrieu Applellation. The Vineyard: This wine comes exclusively from Frick's Estate Gannon Vineyard, on the southeast-facing slope near the winery. This small vineyard was planted to Viognier in 1988 on decomposed Dry Creek Conglomerate soil. The vines have very low vigor and the grapes produced are full of rich classic viognier character. This vintage produced only 1 ton per acre. The Wine: This wine is 100% Viognier. Delicious. Aromas burst from the glass with exotic fruit and floral components. The flavors are mouth filling and complex. This is a memorable white wine that will keep you interested through the meal. Serve with: Sushi, lobster, halibut, mussels, clams, pumpkin soup, fresh goat cheese, scampi. Drink now to 2013. 160 cases made. |
